NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) is an apex Regulatory Body of District & State Cooperative Banks and Regional Rural Banks in India. NABARD was established under the NABARD Act 1981 passed by the Parliament of India.
- NABARD is fully owned by the DFS (Department of Financial Services) under the Ministry of Finance.
NABARD was established on the recommendations of the B. Sivaraman Committee which constituted on 30 March 1979. It was approved by the Parliament through Act 61 of 1981 and It came into existence on 12 July 1982.
